E.C. Lyons Wooden Handle Scrapers

E.C. Lyons Wooden handle scrapers come in a variety of sizes and styles to suit all your intaglio printing needs. All scrapers are made from a high grade carbon tool steel and fitted into a 10cm wooden handle for comfortable handling.

E.C. Lyons scrapers effectively remove burrs from plate surfaces and are particularly helpful for creating mezzotint plates and tidying up filed edges on metal plates prior to printing. The shaft can be partially taped with masking tape during use to protect your fingers from cuts when wanting greater control of your tool.

Mini Scraper: the smallest scraper on offer, this mini scraper is ideal for fine detailed work.

Hollow Scraper:  this scraper features slightly concaved sides with hollow channels along their lengths allowing for easier removal of metal shavings as burrs are scraped away on the plate.

Solid Scraper: a great universal scraper, one of our most popular styles. Its three sharp sides making it perfect for scraping away the plate surface, for image making and making corrections.

Flat Scraper: this small scraper features 3 flat sides, while slightly larger than the mini scraper its sizes also lends itself to detailed drawing and working with smaller plates.

These scrapers can be easily sharpened with a whetstone as needed; using a bit of water or machine oil on your whetstone and rocking the tool back and forth on each side while keeping the edge flat on the stone.
