Classical Printing Papers:

Hahnemühle’s classical printmaking papers embody centuries of craftsmanship and dedication to quality. Made on a traditional cylinder mould machine at Hahnemühle’s historic mill, these high-quality papers are the perfect foundation for artistic expression.

With a matte, velvety-soft surface and a finely structured texture, Hahnemühle printmaking papers are ideally suited for traditional artistic techniques such as etching, relief and collagraph.

For a smooth printing option Hahnemühle has produced the 1584 printing paper. Made from pure cotton, this unsized, highly absorbent paper features a satin finish that delivers an exceptionally smooth surface ideal for woodcut, relief printing and screenprinting techniques. Hahnemühle 1584 excels in multi-layer applications, absorbing colours beautifully and consistently.

Hahnemühle offer a variety of watercolour ranges; their Harmony natural-white watercolour papers come in a range of surface finishes, Hahnemühle Expression is a 100% cotton option with a lightly textured cold-pressed surface. In addition to these ranges a toned watercolour range is also available in books and pads, with either a warm beige or cool grey tone option.

The Hahnemühle Hand Lettering Pad are a unique offering from the brand offering hand lettering enthusiasts a first-class foundation for practicing their art. Developed together with hand lettering artists, it has been tailored to their specific needs, forming the basis for outstanding lettering. Brush pens, fine-tip pens and pencils simply glide across the highly smooth paper. Preliminary sketches can be easily rubbed out on the coated surface, and the tips of sensitive brush pens or paintbrushes are preserved. The smooth, closed surface traps colours and prevents bleeding. These pads offer the perfect absorption and drying behaviour for brush pens, fine-tip pens and felt-tip pens.

The Hahnemuhle Natural Line offers a variety of surfaces in a range of natural fibres - the Hemp Sketch being a MES staff favourite due to its uniquely soft surface - such as Agave, Bamboo and Hemp.
