Raphael 803 Kazan Squirrel Round
This brush is Raphael's most versatile brush and has been used for over 100 years. Its reputation was such that it was known simply as the French watercolour mop. Made from soaked duck quills and hand-wired, each brush is made by a specially trained brushmaker. This brush holds more than any other in Raphael range.
These brushes are known in France as 'petit-gris' and consist of pure squirrel hair, the finest natural fibre used on a brush. They have long been famous for the ability to take up liquid and hold it for long continuous marks and lines without having to return to the watercolour pan to reload the brush. The hairs are hollow and take up liquid like a straw in the unique hair cross-section.
