Hosho Hik (Sheets)

Hosho are among the most widely used Japanese papers, characterised by a pure white colour, a glazed smooth upper surface, and a rougher underside. Completely unsized, hosho papers allow ink to bleed in calligraphy and sumi painting, creating soft and expressive lines with jagged edges.

In printmaking hosho papers offer a perfect texture for block/relief printing the smooth surface producing sharp and clean prints, achievable with hand-printing processes, such as using a baren, without the need for a press. This lightweight paper is also recommended for  drawings and lithography.

It can be suited to other printmaking processes and mixed media, however we recommend testing it first.
