Cranfield's New Print Fix Clear Gel is a versatile modifier to improve ink transfer and reduce ink mottle, allowing for a smoother finished print. Not all unwanted phenomena encountered during printmaking can be attributed to a particular ‘fault’ on behalf of the printmaker, paper, ink, or printing process. Sometimes stuff happens!

The good news is that unlike paper, inks can be modified to overcome a range of challenges. Print Fix Clear Gel has multiple uses:

• Works as an easy way to reduce the strength of ink when required,
• Used to minimise surface imperfections in the paper providing a smoother print finish
• Prevent paper tearing or splitting when removing a plate from the paper.

It is a structured gel, rather than an oil based gel which means it will soften an ink whilst allowing the ink to retain its ‘structure’. This medium is suitable for Cranfield's Traditional and Caligo Safe Wash Ink ranges and may also be usable with other oil-based inks, Cranfield recommends conducting a small trial to assess the effectiveness before using with alternative brand inks.

Print Fix Clear Gel will not slow the drying process. We recommend using 1-10% of Print Fix Clear Gel to your Ink, mixing thoroughly before use.
