E C Lyons Elliptical Tint Tools (also referred to as Spitstickers) are designed for engraving on end grain hardwood, copper, zinc, other metals and thick engraving plastics.
The Elliptical Tint Tool has a cutting edge shaped like the bottom of a shield nd curved sides. The shape of the tool allows for lines that vary in thickness from beginning to end, which is controlled by variations in pressure applied, the deeper the cut the wider the line produced. These tools also work well for producing curved lines.
The E C Lyons Elliptical Tint (Spitsticker)Tool have curved sides made from high grade carbon steel that is factory sharpened, but requires extra honing before use.
