E.C. Lyons Burin Bent Square
E C Lyons Burin Bent Square Tool (also referred to as a Graver) are designed for engraving on end grain hardwood, copper, zinc, other metals and thick engraving plastics.
The Burin is the main engraving tool for printmakers, and is available with a square or lozenge shaped end. These Square tools feature a square shape burin which creates a V-shaped line that is as deep as it is wide and allows for expressive mark making in which lines can dramatically swell from end to end. These tools, while effective for straight lines, are limited in their ability to handle anything beyond a slight curve. They also are able to be used to enhance etched lines.
The E C Lyons Burin Bent Square tools have flat sides made from high grade carbon steel that is factory sharpened, but requires extra honing before use.
