Stippling tools are used to make fine dots for areas of tone and shadow in an image. They will create a slight burr, which can be removed with a scraper. Like all E C Lyons tools, they are made from high grade carbon steel that is factory sharpened, but requires extra honing before use on end grain hardwood, copper, zinc, other metals and thick engraving plastics.
