Charbonnel Soft & Hard Ball Grounds
Charbonnel Grounds are made from a traditional blend of wax and tar.
To apply, degrease and heat your copper or zinc plate, melt the ball ground across it then quickly and evenly roll our the ground with a brayer or dabber.
The surface may then be darkened by smoking the plate with wax tapers.
There are two options to choose from, hard or soft wax.
The Soft ground option is made with one third grease, keeping it in a slightly tacky condition. This can provide some interesting effects as it allows you to push into the ground different textures and drawing mediums.
